As part of your SMS mass communication strategy, you will have use-cases involving a recipient replying to your text message with an intentional keyword. For the most needed use-cases, Tenon has keyword functionality configured out of the box. You can create the messaging associated with these keywords, as well as add supplemental keywords, inside of your SMS workspace settings:

The primary use-cases for keyword interactions are:
- Form signup - A person comes to your landing page, which has a signup form. They provide their phone number as part of the form and click on a confirmation check box consenting to receive SMS communication from you. Primary Keyword: WELCOME and/or JOIN
- Marketing Consent Compliance - To comply with various SMS marketing regulations, Tenon supports a double opt-in method of obtaining SMS marketing consent. After a person has texted WELCOME or JOIN, they are sent an opt-in message, where they must confirm they want to receive your marketing communications. This is the preferred practice of SMS communication providers across the globe. Primary Keyword: YES
- Customer Support - A person may need help with a product or service your company offers or with a recent purchase they've made involving your company. For any message, you want an automated message set up that can point the user to the correct contact information to receive assistance. Primary Keyword: HELP
- Audience Management - Like other marketing communication channels, companies must provide their recipients an easy way to opt-out of mass marketing communications. This ensures regulatory compliance and also ensures your messages aren't falling on deaf ears. Primary Keyword: STOP
For any SMS message you send out, these keywords can trigger associated responses. Keep that in mind as you craft your messaging. For example, someone can reply STOP to opt out of communication, but then reply YES in the same text thread at a later date to rejoin your SMS marketing communication channel.
